Installation and Maintenance Tips for EPS Sandwich Panels
Jun 09,2026
Introduction
Proper installation and regular maintenance are key to maximizing the service life and performance of EPS sandwich panels. Even high-quality panels may experience water leakage, deformation, or corrosion if installed incorrectly or neglected. This article shares practical installation steps and maintenance tips for long-term reliability.
1、Installation Guidelines
(1)Surface Preparation
Ensure steel purlins or supporting structures are flat, clean, and free of rust or debris. Uneven bases cause panel deformation and gaps.
(2)Correct Panel Layout
Start installation from the corner. Install wall panels vertically and roof panels horizontally. Maintain a 10–15 mm overlap between adjacent panels to prevent water penetration.
(3)Fastening and Sealing
Use self-tapping screws with rubber washers to fix panels on purlins. Apply weather-resistant sealant on all joints, corners, and screw holes. Poor sealing is the main cause of water leakage.
(4)Temperature Expansion Reserve
Leave 2–3 mm expansion gaps at panel ends and corners. EPS panels expand and contract with temperature changes; gaps prevent buckling.
2、Daily Maintenance Tips
(1)Regular Inspection
Check panels every 3–6 months for loose screws, cracked sealant, rust spots, or dents. Inspect roof panels after heavy rain or typhoons.
(2)Keep Panels Clean
Clean surface dust and dirt with water and soft brushes. Avoid harsh chemicals or high-pressure washing, which may damage the protective coating.
(3)Prevent Corrosion
Touch up small rust spots promptly with anti-rust paint. Keep drainage systems clear to avoid water pooling on roof panels.
(4)Repair Minor Damage
Small cracks or scratches can be repaired with sealant or touch-up paint. Replace severely damaged panels immediately to maintain structural integrity.
Conclusion
EPS sandwich panels are durable and low-maintenance when installed and cared for properly. Following standard installation procedures and performing simple regular checks can extend their service life to 15–20 years, ensuring stable insulation, waterproofing, and structural performance throughout.
